1. Poor incentives for long term retention: given that the Earth Observation missions MDA works on take years to design and build and then last a decade or more, there is a need for long term retention of domain knowledge and expertise but there are no incentives to encourage this. 2. While MDA works in a very technical field, senior management (especially those fairly new) sometimes make decisions without consulting with relevant technical staff who have been in the field for many years. 3. Over emphasis on "One MDA" failing to recognize that different parts of the company have different needs 4. Sometimes need to work long hours over short periods to meet deadlines NB Pros outweigh the Cons!
