Salary is not competitive

Pros

It's relatively easy to coast. Once you work there for more than 5-10 years, you can just sit on your 150k engineering salary, RRSP matches, and wait to retire.

Cons

- Engineering for space seems cool, until you realize it's extremely slow and bureaucratic, and everyone spends 80% of their time writing design documents - Because of the all-encompassing union, salaries are not competitive. Competent engineers would only work at MDA if they really loved the aerospace or space fields, otherwise they would be swallowed up by American big tech for more than twice the salary - Management is old-fashioned, and slow to adapt to changes in the market
