      Pros

      MDA Montreal has got satellite design down to a science. Overall, a great place to learn about the different aspects of the industry.

      Cons

      The cost of equipment failure looms large, making it necessary to improve the products/procedures in very small increments. There is a recipe and you are encouraged to master it, not improve upon it. The product is extremely complex, requiring job descriptions to be quite narrow to ensure the person is capable of focusing on developing the necessary expertise.

      Pros

      The work is interesting and challenging. The people there are wonderful to work with, very competent and enthusiastic. It is generally a very supportive environment. Hours are flexible.

      Cons

      Work load can be very high. No overtime pay, just bank the flex and take time off later. Pay is on the low side for the industry for most staff. Not many options for career growth.

      Pros

      Good benefits. Cafeteria on site. Gym on site with shower facilities. Free parking. Discount tickets offered to local ski resort, playland, movies, etc. Volleyball teams and tournamentin the summer. Many staff have own offices which is great for privacy and getting stuff done.

      Cons

      Pay scales are below market. Senior management out of touch with workers. Inconsistent application of policies among various groups of employee. Senior management gets bonuses but that does not extend to workers who actually do the work. No pay raises even when company is making money. Some workers treated like commodity, especially among the accounting group.
