Pros

Stable employment, supportive RVP, Cigna Insurance, people I work with are committed to their jobs, location, & flexible spending account

Cons

Systems are frequently down, bills are not paid as timely as they used to be with Payscan, shareholders are more important than MAA employees since we aquired Colonial Properties

Pros

The support teams above you are engaged and plug in where needed. Upper Management especially Area & Regional Managers are hands on! I continually learned from my Regional VP of 8 years. The company invests in its Managers and cares about what's happening onsite with the physical property of course but more over they care about their onsite teams. MAA is service driven and that means service to residents AND EMPLOYEES alike.

Cons

You work a lot of hours if you are on salary (especially on the smaller properties) but you receive a lot of time off as well. I received 5 weeks of vacation plus sick & personal days off... not to mention Holidays and almost all weekends off so it made up for the long work weeks. MAA runs every aspect of their business well. They are on the cutting edge of every part of multi-family housing and expect their Managers to be exceptional leaders. Its one of the most demanding jobs you will ever love.

Pros

Benefits such as medical and dental.

Cons

Stressed to the max. Constant micromanagement. Lack of effective communication from corporate. Managers that are over departments that they have no clue about that department and what the staff does. Plenty of vacation but always too busy to take. Sick leave is questioned by managers even with medical documents. Staff is flat out scared to come to work. Low morale. Managers expect staff to be on call 24-7 and send out emails all hours of the night expecting immediate response. People are required sleep. Expect to work 80+ hours per week if not at a community location. Competent hard working staff dropping like flies due to unnecessary stress levels. Golden child upper management syndrome where they can cause the company excessive unnecessary fines but yet people are fired for much much less issues. Lack of loyalty to many staff members It is well known that if corporate doesn't like your personally you will be gone even with all the hard, good work you do Investigation into issues is non existent. One persons word is taken without asking the other.
