Pros

- free products -generous staff discount of 50% -customers are usually really nice - colleagues are mostly nice too - training is paid for - overtime is usually available but don’t count on it

Cons

- be careful of the things you say because even the slightest things such as commenting on the amount of money made (even if it’s gone up) can be taken the wrong way and they’ll accuse you of not understanding the “business drivers” - they’ll force you to approach and reapproach customers even when the customers have clearly said they want to be left alone - if you leave the shop floor for even a second to grab a sip of water without telling senior management, it become another reason for them to fire you - if you talk about your availability or working times on the shop floor, they can use it as a reason to fire you (even if senior management start the discussion) - if they ask you to clean some baskets and you don’t dry them, they can fire you - if they tell you how to dry a basket , they label this as “training” - even if you provide “5 star customer service” on everyday you work, they will ignore this and focus on the negative aspects of your work there - don’t ask too many questions because they’ll assume that you don’t understand the needs of the business - if you arrive 5 mins before the start of the shift, this isn’t early enough. - if you need time off because of exams or family emergencies, don’t expect them to be sympathetic or helpful in any way - if you are closing the shop and you finish cleaning before the time you’re supposed to, you can’t leave 1 minute before because this breaks conduct - if you’re trying to swap shifts with someone or cover them, it has to be in the same week (no exceptions)
