Pros

Employee discount Free spa treatments when staff were in training Some of the people I worked with were genuinely some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. VM nights were always enjoyable Finishing early if you was on a delivery

Cons

Lack of opportunities for individuals to progress, I knew people that worked at Lush for 5+ years and were never given the opportunity to progress or expand their skill set. Some managers lacked people skills and generally empathy which meant sensitive matters weren’t dealt with in the best way. Unsociable hours. Toxic work culture. Your opinion isn’t respected nor valued. Lack of communication between head office/managers and staff members. Lack of consideration of people’s mental and physical well being

Pros

50% off discount. Friendly sales assistants. Flexible hours.

Cons

The manager and trainee manager are toxic bullies. They create a negative environment to work in. They talk behind supervisor and sales assistants back. Poor communication with all staff. Lack of (effective) training. Pressure to sell to customers who do not want to be approached. This shop in particular love to mention how a lot of the management are neurodivergent/autistic, but when sales assistants are also neurodivergent it becomes an issue. Interview stages are not neurodivergent friendly. Oh, and the manager is also ableist! Avoid lush, but particularly avoid this shop.

Pros

For working in retail as someone who cares about people, the planet, and animals, it doesn’t get much better than this. Awesome products. 50% discount is great, makes things an almost normal price

Cons

Very poor, untrained and inexperienced management The products are so expensive it feels like you’re gaslighting customers if you don’t acknowledge this. The collaborations are cheapening everything. I don’t understand what customer wants a shrek branded shower gel for £30. Make it more upscale or go fully in on kids. The laziness of making rotas is borderline cruelty. Constant mistakes, never the same shifts so impossible to plan ahead, some shifts in the morning, then training in the evening so if you had to travel from afar you might have a 12 hour day but only get paid for a few hours and have to kill loads of time in between. Very minimal, poor training, then being told off for not knowing stuff nobody ever told you
