Pros

Good job security for employees below level 5. Acceptable starting salary. Excellent health care for ~$20/week. The culture encouraged a good work/life balance where is was completely normal to work a 40 hour week.

Cons

The company is big and slow-moving. They do a poor job of capturing new business and tend to get focused on small savings at the cost of good employees and general productivity. It's difficult to get raises and promotions at low levels.

Pros

A great work atmosphere contributed to an overall satisfying job. Pay was in the average range most people seemed satisfied, I really liked having the cafeteria and other amenities on site too!

Cons

Many people who were tenured seemed negative about the style of management. Some also complained about lack of promotion from within. I really found the life work balance very hard as I lived an hour away and you were frequently expected to stay late. Sometimes I would get home @ 8 pm after leaving for work at 6 am

Pros

It's a large, stable company so if you perform then you can work here for decades. There can be a lot of flexibility for working hours/schedule... but like many things at Lockheed, it really depends on your specific manager and project.

Cons

This is not the place to be for Software Engineers. Lockheed is a Systems Engineering organization with very little software engineering expertise. Software is considered a tool like Matlab... so leadership has no appreciation for good design. Most of the people writing software are educated in other disciplines (ex. Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering). That would be fine except for the fact that 1000's of lines of unmaintainable code are written every year.
