Pros

- Job Security - Great Benefits - (contributed to 2 master's degrees, many employee discounts, healthcare, savings plans, etc) - Opportunity to gain experience across multiple domains due to large number of programs to work on in DC area - Great ethics program - Hard work is typically rewarded - Work is not monotonous, always something different - Great mentoring program - I've had some great bosses - Intense programs available for people with large amounts of energy - Great work/home balance (flex time, work from home, etc) - If you communicate with your boss what you're looking for many will help you find a path to get there - Great training programs to take advantage of

Cons

- Younger employees will not see as steep an escalation in pay/responsibility as they would see at a smaller company, however, if you move between different programs and work proposals and gain a great deal of experience you will be rewarded. - You have to move between programs, job titles, etc in order to gain a significant pay increase - if you start low and stay on the same program it will take longer to get to where your pay rate should be than if you move between programs and volunteer for highly visible assignments. - Don't fall for the security clearance upgrade push! You could lose all of your clearances if the upgrade does not occur. I've seen this happen to others and it is devastating for a career in government. To add insult to injury, the pay isn't always better with a high clearance.

Pros

Schedule flexibility, not too stressful or challenging, fitness center on site, lots of activities or community service to get involved in, you can move around in the company to other groups

Cons

Sometimes work is slow and boring, politics, endless meetings, not a place to make friends, most employees are older

Pros

There are quite a few interesting Jobs @ Lockheed Martin if your lucky enough to stumble up one.

Cons

There is a tendancy for people to be piggion holed into one job if they are good at it. In some large programs there is no vision or leadership.A lot of times schedules are made up by some one high and no input or concidereation is made to reality.. and as such the team becomes demoralized... On top of that some of the processes instituted are such a big waste of tax payers money...I understand peer review are important but its a real waste of time to rev a document to REV G just because non technical people don't understand a technical document. I'm sorry you cannot have a highly technical document dumbed down so that a high school drop out can understand. thats not what the intent of the document is.. Its for a technical person to understand a technical document. Why waste all this time and money to rev a document so that Joe the plummer can understand it? Its because its cost plus program and we have a bunch of Joe plummbers inspecting the document.
