Pros

There are none other than having a job, if that's what you want to call it.

Cons

Greedy management. Wanting to cut mechanics so multiple site leads can keep their jobs. Absolutely no contribution to employee health care leaving premiums of over $1,400 a month for employees. Allowing "created" jobs from good ole boy system to stay drawing high salaries to continue. No opportunity for advancement, regardless of education or experience. Leads and below are dropping like flies. Continues to force impossible timeline standards by intimidation of layoffs. They cut mechanics, cut timelines, and are wanting to accomplish more work in less time to "save costs" but still have three site supervisors collecting over $100,000 a year and numerous "management" positions with undefined roles collecting over $36 an hour. Good luck getting these people to fix your airplanes. This contract was looked at completely wrong and it's going downhill fast.

Pros

-Sometimes have interesting work and can work on some interesting products. - Many of the coworkers do encourage you to learn if you are willing to ask the right questions. - The flex 4/10 schedule is good for working around your life schedule but can be exhausting when you have to go into the office.

Cons

-Upper management pats themselves on the back while pushing off promotions for their employees. -Bad leaders up the chain use the Good ol’ Boy system to keep people with million dollar salaries who just take naps at their desk and let their programs fail. -Sometimes given large assignments that managers knew for months last minute and expected to be done in two weeks or less. -Lots of people are leaving right now so every team is a skeleton crew with employees working two/three times what they should be. -Facilities are a wreck post pandemic (raccoons in the office, A/C not working for months, littered with wasp nests, etc).

Miserable Experience

Pros

- The company provides yearly flu shots - The miserable conditions allow you to bond with coworkers over your shared hatred

Cons

- No career advancement (only advancement is by switching careers) - Multiple security gates and then bus transport to building, which is all unpaid - Childish management with zero experience outside of Lockheed - Any opportunities you receive that cause your work to deviate from the normal cause massive jealousy and resentment from coworkers. Which is understandable because there are no challenges or independence - Management assigns busy work that does little to benefit the company or your career, yet despite being pointless it is used to define your performance - Mottos such as “Know (no) change” - The longer you work here, the more useless you become as an engineer. Being a 30 year old program, there is no reason to use any engineering tools or technologies. Any analysis is done offsite. So, any tools or technology you’ve learned at previous jobs or during school will advance while you slowly die on the inside - due to secure environment, nothing with a camera, Bluetooth or wifi is allowed (and this includes ALL cell phones (even ones without those features)) - heavy micromanagement (which is bizarre because there is very little to do) because there is a management heavy structure. My current company has less managers for 250 engineers then this place did for 25 - work in windowless buildings - coworkers and management are paranoid and suspect ulterior motives about any request (it’s ridiculous. even if you legitimately are trying to do something good for business such as finishing a report in a building that stays open, you’re suspected of trying to pull a scam or charge less hours) - completely inflexible working hours. Enjoy the 6am start! And be prepared to be a bad egg if you suggest any suggestion for an alternative and everyone whispering “who does he think he is” behind your back - you’re the forgotten branch of Lockheed and on a military base so most company onsite benefit or celebration isn’t applicable If you want to do the same robotic task every single day, think that other people succeeding makes you look bad, enjoy watching the joy slowly evaporate from coworkers and are offended by other people’s happiness - SWFPAC would love to have you
