Pros

Great opportunity for growth and movement around the company. There is support for changing roles and a great training program for new leaders.

Cons

Program losses create cyclical hiring and firing. It's part of a being a government contractor but as the DoD grows and contracts, it drives ups and downs.

Pros

The key feature is the 9 day fortnight, which is a really nice touch to work-life balance. There are a variety of projects the site is actively working on, so many opportunities to partake in them. The site was acquired by LM and you can always leverage on the US site to assist. Some of the SLT are US citizens which helps push forward change and are always helpful to assist. The site is preparing itself to meet the delivery targets of a large contract, so a hive of activity. Canteen is good and coffee is subsidised. Parking is plenty. Good walks around site should you need to stretch your pins after lunch. Changes are been made, such as IT equipment and personal benefits, which are welcome changes.

Cons

The site has been acquired by LM, but nothing has been done to implement the mission, values, and culture from the US parent. SLT have done little and the MD is inept in leading these changes. Projects and opportunities are not at all communicated so you are not made aware of what is going. There are newsletters in circulation, the majority outline the sycophant accomplishments rather than what really matters. I recall vividly a large article mentioning the fantastic work a PA did in printing reports and making arrangements for a customer review, which one would consider that is the responsibility of a PA, not least to mention the award this PA got. The Ampthill site is in its infancy and there is no one in the SLT taking control to make the necessary changes to make sure the site is changed to meet the major contracts/programme deliveries. Individuals appointed at senior positions are totally inadequate and with little or no experience of how to achieve or get to the end goal. Most of the SLT are inexperience in their roles, for example, one of them has no experience of operations yet has been given the position of site operations, another leads the supply chain with no experience of supply chain. As a result the direction in which people are taken, and for those newly joining, this looks like an oil tanker heading for the rocks whilst the skipper is busy swinging golf balls off the stern. The site has a leavers rate of avg.15/month. It is not that they do anything to keep you, they just can't as people leave because they see the rocks. HR claim they do their best retain you and look gormless when you tell them goodbye. Shame this site has more negatives, can be a really good thing if radical changes are made.
