Pros

Friendly people, interesting industry. Good place to get a flavour for the insurance market as a whole and learn about possible careers. Good work/ life balance. Staff seemed content.

Cons

Lots of administrative jobs acting as a quasi-regulator not necessarily at the heart of the action.

Depressing Environment

Pros

30 days leave and maybe location.

Cons

Lloyd's has no interest in career progression or making improvements to the work environment. Morale is on the floor and unlikely to rise in the medium term. This is due to the utter stagnation colleagues feel here, but also because cuts to the Corporation are made as gestures to the underperforming market despite the obvious lack of connection between the two. Where inefficiencies do exist these are poorly identified, rarely acted upon, and where action is desired, often subject to personal protection of senior management as their own private fiefdoms.
