Good company, good work but poor career advancement.
Pros
Good company to work for. Great team atmosphere and flexible work-live balance. Interesting products to work on. Gym membership. Great annual leave entitlement. Close knit community in the Edinburgh site. Senior Edinburgh management do regular All Employee Briefings to update us (in non-business jargon) on the performance of the business and they are approachable.
Cons
Career advancement is very difficult in Engineering. Engineering functional management is very detached from the everyday job. Performance reviews are conducted every six months but they do not influence pay or career advancement. Formal training could be improved rather than relying on knowledge filtering down from more experienced staff. Staff loyalty is with the Edinburgh factory and not with wider Selex ES company. There is worry that interference from international parent company will harm rather than help the Edinburgh site flourish.
