Pros

Employee discount, fuel discount, nothing to do with IT

Cons

Kroger is successful in spite of its IT department. The CIO is never around and the useless morons that report to him are a disaster. Nepotism and old-boys club rule the day and keep IT in the dark ages. In fact, the theme of Kroger IT seems to be 'Lets Pretend'. Lets pretend we know how to effectively manage large projects, pretend our 'leaders' can pull their heads out of their backsides, pretend there is not a huge amount (40+ percent) of dead weight in IT that haven done anything in the last 20 years, pretend that R&D produces anything of value, pretend that they recognize and promote talent (most of the good people leave or are forced out after a few years), pretend that they know anything about ecommerce and agile delivery. That last point is worth noting - after more than a decade and having spent hundreds of millions of dollars pretending they are an agile eCommerce 'startup' they have yet to sell a single thing online. But, boy, can they pretend they do agile, hackathons and are a great place to work. I suppose it is a great place to work if you are a no-talent IT bottom dweller with an appetite for apathy and incompetence who just wants a paycheck.

Pros

Great pay for an extremely easy job, good benefits, great team of nurse practitioners, good amount of PTO, a lot of free time during shifts

Cons

Management is horrible. Never at any job have I disliked management so much. The job seemed great at first but it soon changed. And this definitely isn't just my opinion but comes from several of the employees there. Members of management are so quick to throw you under the bus or write you up for the TINIEST things. "Accidents" are extremely frowned upon and are never forgiven. This makes the job extremely stressful and I constantly went to work thinking I would get fired if I did anything wrong at all. Management believes that employees must be perfect in every way, and if you are anything less than you will be targeted and end up fired for something small. I have heard from several others that they will go as far as to watch you on Facebook. Members of management never show any appreciation whatsoever to their employees. Emails sent to employees are constantly negative and demanding. Patient satisfaction is way more important than employee satisfaction. Guidelines and/or rules are constantly being broken to satisfy the patient so therefore no one ever knows what the right thing to do is. If you go by the guidelines but upset the patient you will get in trouble. Pretty much whatever the patient wants they get, no matter if it is not the right thing to do. I used to love working here but members of management made it absolutely miserable for me.
