Pros

The answer used to the 'the talented people you work with' but I'm not even sure that is true these days.

Cons

If you are a prospective employee or client then, please, do your homework before making any kind of commitment. Korn Ferry looks great from the outside but do they practice what they preach? This is a company that charges huge fees to show clients 'the best way to compensate, develop and motivate their people'. But do they take their own medicine? How motivating is it to work at KF? Quietly ask a current employee for an honest assessment and then wait for the real story. Want to work with them in D&I? Check out their gender pay reporting. Leadership assessment? Ask them when the last time was they were asked to assess a colleague. Compensation? Ask them whether they have a fair and transparent pay structure. Engagement? Do they measure engagement internally? Leadership? Ask an employee to tell you about some of the behaviours exhibited by the senior leaders in the US and how that plays out in terms of culture, wellbeing etc. Want to work in sales (you will be)? Ask your conscience how you will feel about charging clients the maximum you can get away with but with substandard delivery support meaning that you will never meet your clients' expectations. All of the knowledge and expertise has been stripped out in recent years. KF is really just a huge sales operation now (the marketing brochures are very glossy). Current clients and employees get a raw deal. All that matters here is what Wall Street thinks - shareholder return is king - and this relentless focus has led to some deeply unethical business practices. Employees are leaving in droves.

Pros

The huge pro is the people. The reason I stayed so long was for the people. However, those people are basically shells right now, because of how KF has broken them. The culture is not even close to being what it once was. Another perk is the flexibility to work remotely if under the right manager. This perk is not offered to everyone, unfortunately.

Cons

Where to begin? No work life balance. There is too much work, and not enough people to actually deliver the work. Project management team is responsible for everything and is never rewarded. I was working over 60 hours a week in order to get close to finishing the work that I was given. Favoritism is also a huge issue at the company. If you are a hard worker, be prepared to work nonstop while others simply get promoted because of their ability to brown nose the boys club. Another huge con is pay. The project management team is drastically underpaid considering they are the ones doing a majority of the work while the top levels of the company float around on their clouds getting all the praise and recognition, but the moment something goes wrong all of a sudden it is the project manager’s fault.

Pros

Great place to learn the ropes of Executive Search quickly. Great people if you're on the right team. Generous time off Generous maternity and paternity leave

Cons

The true definition of a "Dog-eat-Dog" environment. Extremely competitive-- this would be a pro but it's a dirty fight It's definitely the old boys club-- if you're a female rising up, you are working 10x harder than your male peers who are out golfing with the higher ups. While they offer generous paid paternity leave, you will be mocked for taking it. If you take maternity leave, you will not return to the same amount of respect you left with. The company may offer you tons of vacation but make it nearly impossible to actually use it. Your job is NOT safe unless you are a fee-earner and a high billing one, at that. Lots of weird vibes between various lines of business. Sexual Harassment is often unreported to save one's image. Blatant discrimination internally and externally (amongst candidates) is overlooked or swept under the rug. Extreme lack of resources after they laid off about a third of the workforce a month into the pandemic and reducing everyone else's salary. Everyone is tired, overworked and looking for work elsewhere.
