Pros

Most of the employees and managers are great people. They work well with my school schedule also.

Cons

I've worked at Kmart for 3 years without a raise. While I realize that they do have money problems, They need to reward their good employees.

Pros

A minimum wage job that is it. Overall decent store management. So this is my first job and it did what I expected which was to pay me enough to take care of my needs as a high school student. Also, I have to say that all of my managers were okay for all of the fuss they had to deal with from corporate.

Cons

No benefits at all, no job advancement, unrealistic quotas for Sears Charge Cards Okay so I was hired last year the week before black Friday. One practice of kmart is to work you as many hours as possible your first week because they withhold that pay until you quit or are fired. That means I never saw a dime of that first week's pay I worked so hard to earn until I finally quit about a year later. Also as a cashier, my total training for the job was about 30 minutes not mentioning the hour training video I watched during orientation about avoiding confrontations and helping the disabled. Needless to say I walked up to a cash register on day one not knowing a single thing to do. I was constantly griped at by the branch manager for not being up to corporate standards The worst part of working for kmart is that by the end of the day atleast 60 percent of your customers must use their rewards cards or you get in trouble, you must ask the customer if they want to donate a dollar to a St. Jude Hospital or management can take a dollar out of your pay, and you are expected to have a certain amount of customers sign up for the sears charge card each month.
