Too many demands, no incentive

Pros

- A diverse group of workers

Cons

- Minimum wage is paid to almost all workers - "Wage Freeze" prevents raises, year after year - No incentive - Morale has dramatically decreased - No room for advancement - Hours are sparse, especially from January to March when some only receive 4 hours per week - Scheduling issues leave gaps, requiring one employee to do the jobs of at least three - The discount (10%, or 20% off clothing) is only valid on regular-priced merchandise, rendering it almost useless.

Pros

During the holidays provide employees with food, and cake for the employees' birthdays. Some individuals in management are personable, however are not receptive to the welfare of the employee.

Cons

No room for a promotion or a raise. Those who have worked at kmart for 5+ years makes the same amount as those newly hired or 5 cents morel. Those who made above minimum wage were let go when the economy turned. Future at Kmart is bleak. Only have one or two cashiers during rush hour and if ask for back up will be ignored by management.

Pros

10% discount It's easy to get a job there. Some of the low level employees are nice. At my particular store there is good management.

Cons

The corporate policies are unethical. If you are sick for any reason you need a doctors note and working at Kmart means you most likely can't afford to go to the doctor. Sears credit cards are a scam Depending on the Kmart you work at, you could get fired for having an emergency and not being able to show up. It's retail, you work inconvenient hours, you can plan on missing time with your families for all major holidays except Christmas. Benefits are a joke because they will not pay you enough to get them. They expect you to sell Sears Credit Cards which customers do not want and ask a lot of questions.
