Pros

Flexibility in hours/days of work. Good location, proximity to home, ample parking. Most coworkers are friendly and team players.

Cons

Not much chance of advancement or raise in pay.At the mercy of supervisors and store management, constant multi tasking required, very unorganized, old/outdated equipment, shabby fixtures, etc.

Pros

Friendly staff, management Works with your scheduling needs Regular feedback on how you're doing on the job Seem interested in your feedback as well Give adequate break/lunch times Decent employee discount Jobs do pay minimum wage, but are easy and entry level in nature so it is expected. Customers over all are friendly and regular/loyal shoppers so you can develop good business relationships

Cons

Virtually no raises Too many things to try to get customers to sign up for even though many customers hate the inquisitions; Put too much emphasis on your metrics and yes, if a system is down the lack of say, Rewards members coming through your checkout still counts against you. Bit of a bait and switch with online app - applied for a supposed 'warehouse' job, specifically to avoid cashiering, ended up there is no warehouse and got stuck at the checkouts even though I told them in the interview I did not want to be a cashier. Training is almost non-existent - no matter your experience, you get thrown into a department and either sink or swim. Didn't expect hand-holding but something in between would be less stressful. When it's slow, especially at the registers where you're limited in where you can wander around, it's the place where time stands still - they don't give you enough meaningful tasks to occupy your time so you feel useful.
