A great place to work short term

Pros

Kinder Care has a very supportive staff and management. I feel I received great training when I started and was well informed about procedure and expectations. Planning the curriculum is quite easy and you have access to a plethora of supplies. A job at Kinder Care is a great opportunity for students studying education, or graduates waiting to get their teaching licence. Working for Kinder Care gives you a lot of classroom experience that you can carry over into your next teaching job.

Cons

The center itself was great, the staff and management team were very supportive. However because Kinder Care is part of the KU corporation there were every changing corporate expectations that were not practical to apply in the classroom. More often than not we were understaffed, and out of ratio in the mornings because of it. Because of under staffing I was often left in a classroom with 20 students and no co teacher and no one was available to step in to help. Many of the policies you had to adhere by in theory were great but did not work in a classroom. Like I stated in the pros section. It is a great job for someone who wants more experience in the classroom but in no way is it a career choice.

All about the money, less about people

Pros

I work with some great women and terrific kids

Cons

The DM always tries to put words in your mouth to make it seem like the center is doing bad because of the staff and basically asking you which ones he could fire. The place is too expensive for certain families in the area we are in. There is zero marketing effort and children are suppose to magically appear from the walls. The classrooms are left out of ratio, the director and the AD are always ready to leave, the DM is completely out of touch with everything that makes a business and is quick to blame everyone for the centers problems without taking the time to look at all the factors. Its a common problem for most centers for the teachers to live paycheck to paycheck, they dont give us any hours and then expect us to take home work and go to the store and buy stuff with our money, put together things at home. Its ridiculous.

Pros

The Teachers are trying to do the best they can to keep the children safe. They are very caring people who genuinely care for the students.

Cons

The ridiculous mandates of this organization make it absolutely impossible to keep the children safe at all times! It is called a "learning center", but there is very little learning going on.
