Very student focused - almost to a fault

Pros

There is a lot of pride in the city and around campus for the university. The students are the heart of the culture and everyone is focused on putting the student experience at the front of mind.

Cons

The student-centeredness can be a bit extreme at times. Letting students decide how departments are funded is great in theory, but they don't have the knowledge, context, or awareness to know how their decisions are impacting livelihoods of staff. Some leaders don't demonstrate care/value for staff and programs. Unless they get the enrollment issue figured out, there will be a lot of stressed folks trying to figure out how to manage budgets on campus.
