The benefits are great, the people are kind.

Cons

The HR department is hard to get a hold of. Do your research and ensure they have your retirement, deduction, etc correct. Also, you might need to talk to multi people to get the right answer about the benefit. The culture is very much about prestige I didn't love that but that is more about preferences.

- You have the ability to work any case from start to finish without having to pass it off to an investigations unit. - You get to pave your own path at the department by being able to find LE courses and the administrative staff are generally supportive - The university allows families of employees 7 credit hours and employees 3 credit hours of classes per semester and the department is supportive of officers taking university classes.

Cons

- The pay has been behind, but the administration has taken large steps to bring it up to par with other departments.
