Pros

The projects are challenging and creativity is encouraged.

Cons

Aggressive timelines, poor management with no transparency, support groups unwilling to resolve issues, and the work load isn't manageable considering all the ancillary task involved with day to day work.

Pros

The pension is good - although it's gradually being eroded away as the company seeks to reduce its future liabilities. Two reductions in pension scheme in the last 6 years and more on the way. Very little accountability and no push from management - great if you want to coast and don't care about excelling - the review name says it all

Cons

Where do I start... The few decent parts of the business for engineering have been destroyed due to lack of understanding from senior management regarding cyclical business such as oil and gas. Relentless bonus chasing from directors leads to short term policies that offers short term boost but long term damage i.e. high levels of redundancies year after year For a self proclaimed technology business there are far too many sales and non-technical people in senior management who don't understand the tech. Same goes for operations. I was told that engineers in operations didn't get pushed for IChemE chartership because the business didn't see it as important - appalling philosophy for a supposed engineering company. Talent management is appalling - you only get ahead if you are able to have a mentor in a high position, or politically savvy to get ahead - which leads onto my next point ...the politics. Far too many political animals - care more for their own job than the welfare of their people or the profitability of the business. JM is rife with these people. CEO is gambling on batteries as the next big thing but JM are way behind the curve with major competitors already having a stranglehold on the market - saying 'our main selling point is that we do great science' in a major new interview was the real low point. I guess that is what you get when you employ a glorified accountant to lead a technology company rather than someone who actually understands the 'science'...
