Pros

Jacobs has a strong emphasis on employee safety, stemming from an incident where a number of employees were killed in an oil refinery explosion in Texas. The management itself is not overbearing, but works to the customer's schedules and organization.

Cons

Some companies have a dark side in which they rely on enforcers to do their dirty work and keep subordinates in fear, keeping the executives' hands clean. It preserves their reputation as gentlemen. They are very quick to fire. Jacobs also does not pay for relocation expenses, and their raises are paltry across the board.

Pros

Large IT group with lots of different roles, global organization, flexible work schedules, good salaries, solid 401K.

Cons

The CIO and her inner circle have completely lost their way. It is all about favoritism and exclusion over the best practices and procedures that will benefit the organization. IT used to be full of long tenured professionals that were truly engaged in their work, but that has eroded with the endless re-orgs and questionable promotions. Overall Company: Expensive benefits, layoffs (employment based on winning contacts), hesitant to promote from within.

Pros

Great co-workers and employees. Flexible schedule, very little forced overtime. Great downtown location with good public transportation access.

Cons

Too many Department Managers that are marginally billable charging to overhead while skilled billable employees are forced to use PTO, time off without pay (convenience leave) or modified part time (21 hours a week) while waiting for projects to startup. Billable employees are discouraged and even prohibited from charging hours to overhead.
