Pros

It used to be good company that was deliberately make into to go for losses . Than go for massive layoff . So much for people first motto of CEO

Cons

Used to have good design and Eng team . Now all is destroyed but aim of management is for creative destruction . So taking nerw projects is suspended while downsize increases profitability. Hence management is happy . while employees they are better in hell

Make your own way

Pros

Salary is higher than average, and employees are very professional. You can learn a lot here. Lots of opportunity, especially if you are willing to relocate. Even though it's a HUGE company, I find its very much like running my own business. You have enough rope to run - to succeed if you're a self-starter, and enough to hang yourself if you're not. This is a good place for a talented, energetic individual. If you just want to put in your 40 hours and go home look elsewhere.

Cons

If you're not billing to a project you are in danger of being laid off, and good performance may not be enough to save you. As a publicly traded company, the bottom line is more important than anything. Constantly repeated slogans such as "People are our greatest resource" spawn a lot of jokes.

Pros

People are their greatest asset and they employee a lot of people. As long as you enjoy the people you work with, the company side takes care of itself. Fairly structured on process and procedure, their goals as an organization are well defined (Beyond Zero) and I've experienced the most growth in my career while employed with Jacobs.

Cons

Jacobs is in the business of high volume, low margin. This translates to tight overheads and it shows. Training is infrequent and often gets rebooked by seasons, not days or weeks because there simply isn't enough people available in the overheads to keep up with demand. Jacobs calls themselves a relationship based company and what this means is the client will always be right and get their way, the sooner you accept this fact the better off you'll be.
