Pros

Company cares about your safety and general well-being. Jacobs has the process in place to do things the right way, or the way I learned in college and professional standards (CMAA). Management allows a project manager to manage their own budget and be completely responsible for their own projects and success. The Personal-Time-Off (PTO) plan is great, you can sell back your PTO (my bonus/yr.) or you can carry over without losing hours.

Cons

The cost of health benefits from a 70,000+ employee company should have much better. Raises are steady but there should be better incentives with the stock purchase 5% discount should be raised to 20% if allowed. Bonuses are hard to come by. Access to employee development needs improvement.

Pros

I was a Jacobs employee for 5 years. Great pay, benefits, and company culture.

Cons

I had a hard time working out FMLA and disability issues with our local HR department. I had a hard time getting up-to-date paperwork (forms, info, etc.) and getting in touch with personnel. Later the HR department switched over to a help desk/ticket system in which we had to submit queries through their online portal. If employees tried to contact any of the personnel directly instead of submitting a ticket, supervisors were reprimanded; this effectively stunted HR accessibility.

Mega projects worldwide

Pros

Big challenging long term projects.. Jacobs is usually in the prime contractor role. Worldwide opportunities. Relocation costs supported well. Small but steady annual increases.

Cons

Local office politics sometimes difficult. Be ready to relocate every few years. No profit sharing (public company). Company is using cash to expand through acquisitions. Should be putting more investment into better IT tools and systems and existing staff development and promotion. Also they should pay dividends to stockholders.
