Pros

Jacobs in Conshohocken is more of a community than an employer. Senior process engineers will spend time and effort to help younger engineers reach their potential. As a young professional the process team in Conshohocken has supported me to the fullest extent. I am surrounded by driven individuals and the more experienced engineers spend a great deal of time making sure that we are challenged. Many companies I have worked for would relegate minor duties to young engineers that the unit could be most efficient. The Jacobs process team presents constant opportunities for less experienced employees to grow and learn. It is a competitive environment that values growth from the bottom. Young engineers are exposed to a variety of skills, helping them develop their value as professionals in the future. Management is responsive to their employees goals and innovation is valued regardless of your experience. 40 hours a week is entirely acceptable. As employees that are paid at an hourly rate we have the freedom to extend ourselves and earn more than we could elsewhere, if that is our desire. Hours are flexible, which is fantastic for team members that have more responsibility outside of the office.

Cons

Insurance plans seem to be expensive. Compensation in hourly wages is high so having a spouse that has access to less expensive insurance rates is a boon, but not realistic for many of the team members.

Pros

great salary for engineers. Being a process engineer is probably the best option or a civil . you get paid for overtime.

Cons

the concept of having to stay billable or be laid off gets old after awhile. this behavior creates a situation that people may sabotage others careers to save their own

Pros

Salary was good. Good cross-section of co-workers. Ease of working with clients.

Cons

Need to improve sales force to get more projects. Months prior to oil price crash we continued to get the same message that new project work is coming but it never did.
