Pros

it pays my bills and i get paid once a week they have good benafits and some blue hats, green hats are good

Cons

some blue hats don't treat their emplores right, the corporation well tell them to do a job one way but the blue hats will tell us to do it another way. the plant runs one way but when corp. comes they all run around like chickens with there heads off trying to run the floor like they should but as soon as corp. leaves its back to the same way it always as. i think corp needs to make a surprise vist and not to let them know that they are coming. i also think that the white hats should get bonues also because we work just as hard as the blue hats. we should also get pdos paid day off when we get sick. we loose alot of good workers cause we get treated poorly . why do some blue hats get 6000 dollors in bonues when the white hats do the phsical jobs

Pros

World leader in the industry - great people to work with (management excepted). Very exciting and dynamic environment.

Cons

Very little communication from top down. Non-traditional working environment. Long hard hours, and pay is minimal. If you are not in the "inner-circle" you are just an employee. There is a sense of teamwork among those you work with, however, you could lose your job at any time. there is no job security with this company. If an acquisition occurs your position may be eliminated. All decisions are about the bottom-line and little information is provided about the overall goals and strategy of the company.

Pros

Great location, wonderful facilities. Industry & market share leader. Historically significant. When times are good this is a great company to be part of, however, with the current state of the industry (closed borders, food safety concerns, declining consumer purchase of high-quality cuts) times and the company have become extremely lean. Pork opps have been historically healthy and profitable. I was at Swift & Company prior the JBS acquisition.

Cons

Industry in decline and Swift's plants need an infusion of funds. Foreign ownership has turned a once strong branded marketer into an operational-driven plow horse. New senior management is adapting to American consumer and has had spotty success.
