Pros

JPMorgan Chase has a strong relationship within the global financial services environment as an organization that is well-managed, even in rocky economic climates. The organization grows cautiously and doesn't simply swallow-up every opportunity that presents itself. Access to competitive data is a benefit when making decisions.

Cons

Large company bureaucracy impedes growth of smaller ventures. In the continuing effort to provide shareholder value, organization in many areas has become so lean that employees burn out quickly. This is very problematic due to the company's small size in the Canadian market. This drives good talent away,

Pros

If you are in financial services, JPMorgan is the place to be. The executive leadership is phenomenal, and the bank well positioned to come out of the current crisis in great shape. From a technology perspective, a lot of time and effort is spent running it as a business, but also focusing on being a fast follower of leading edge capabilities. Huge budgets, and the ability to do things that would be far too expensive elsewhere.

Cons

In the current environment, there is a sort of stigma being associated with a bank - especially one that is now partly owned and "managed" by Washington. However, JPM has good things going for it. Not enough real innovation and a lot of waste in duplicative systems and processes - part of the downside of being sugh a huge organization.

Pros

Good pay. Opportunities for professional growth. Great diversity program.

Cons

Cliques control the game - in the last 3 or 4 retrenchment program, none of the caucasians or indians were affected even if some of the Asians had better performance appraisal/ranking. Non-performing Executive Directors were untouchables. The Juniors and middle management took the brunt.
