Pros

if you are straight out of college it is a great place to work because there are a lot of young people that work there and makes it easy to meet others. It is also great if you can be on the P & G Team because you will have that on your resume always and they are a great client - really a true partnership with Ipsos on the copy testing side. Most of the upper mgt is very nice - a very nice company environment overall - and the advancement opportunities are pretty clear cut - it is clear what your next role is.

Cons

there can be a lot of competition and the pay is not great - sometimes the account managers are thrown in without knowing enough about the methodologies.

Pros

Very professional, has built strong level of expertise in certain areas (advertising, political polling) and the company is relatively entrepreneurial and flexible (created a separate business unit for its biggest customer P&G). Other than that it has very substantial international network so potential opportunities for international career development (should the HR function develop somewhat). Otherwise, the individuals that you come across are often pleasant, bright and motivated so that the atmosphere is a good one.

Cons

Lack of HR function in French business so career progression is a question of networking. An odd way of setting goals - strong emphasis on hitting ambitious targets for an international client but lack of reward for doing so as there are always performance issues that drag down the overall business. This leads at the very least to confusion and for those who want to perform, the clearest route to a career progression is the exit. The focus on specialisation means it is easier to get 'stuck in a rut' i.e. only work on advertising, again this does not keep you motivated.

Pros

High profile company, lots of exposure to different types of projects.

Cons

Erratic management and uneven cultures across the company as it is created from the acquisition of many smaller companies. Too much focus on the bottom line and not enough on quality creates a culture of stressed out employees, although some units are better than others, especially the ones that are in profitable, high margin areas (e.g. advertising tracking).
