Pros

Employees (even student coops) are given the opportunity to excel and take on responsibilities. Your position at the company seems to reflect the position you've chosen for yourself. No Peter Principle here. Also, there's a good gym right in the office. Big cafeterias, a nice lounge, some rooms to sleep.

Cons

Tax software is soul-crushingly uninteresting. A great deal of legacy software is being supported, which can be tiresome, though admittedly there has been some work to port old code to more modern frameworks. Oh, and the food you'll find on site will send you to an early grave.

Pros

Intuit is a great place to work. The people are their biggest assets. When I joined right out of college I found the senior engineers to be very helpful in making sure I could learn the ropes fast. Lots of focus on innovation, failing fast, hypothesis based testing. Great benefits as well.

Cons

All the focus on failing fast and lean start up sometimes does not work well because then you dont give ideas incubation time. There have been many times when great ideas get shot down before testing them out more comprehensively. Also some terrible acquisition decisions in the past.
