Pros

It's the People. Awesome people to work with, from all walks of life. Great CEO in Brad Smith. Great benefits package. If you are savvy, smart, and willing to bust your tail to learn more on your own, you can make a very good nest egg and retirement portfolio. Innovation is on the rise, and big data is here and growing.

Cons

While vacation time is nice, taking it became nearly impossible. Work/life balance was terrible. Growth opportunities were slim. Many expert contributors never leave the company voluntarily, allowing for upward opportunities. I survived more management changes than I can easily recall after many years. All it takes is one manager with whom you cannot seem to mesh, no matter what you do, to be sent packing unceremoniously. Performance Improvement Plans should be a sign that someone wants you out and are starting the process. Even if you meet the requirements from the PIP, you are easily terminated afterwards if you are in a "Right To Work" state. For all the talk of values, shareholders tend to be given the most weight.

Pros

It may sound cliched - but the best thing about working at Intuit is the people. I made long lasting relationships and friendships there. And for a time I looked forward to going to work every day. The ability to be casual in the office is also a great plus - no one wants to be suited and booted every day!

Cons

Something about the culture and environment at Intuit is changing. People are leaving - in droves, myself included. The culture isn't being translated to the new employees so they've lost a bit of what makes them special. While there are some fantastic leaders at Intuit, the leadership of the team I worked for was toxic. It decimated morale. The hardest workers were going unrecognised, work life balance became non-existent and there was an air of demotivation. This was not helped by the fact that some people in the team get away with delivering absolutely nothing, because no one in management is stepping in. This is a problem in many organisations of course, but I cannot understand how people who spend months doing absolutely nothing, just talking about plans, getting others to do their work and never delivering go unchecked. It baffled me. I kept thinking, what's the point of killing myself when it's okay to do nothing. At the point of my leaving the company was unrecognisable from what it was. Some of the best and brightest had left. Honestly I hope that changes made to the leadership and the removal of the toxic elements brings the company back to greatness, but I'm not holding my breath.

Pros

Lots of Over Time available. Others at the same level in your group offer support.

Cons

Training was inadequate. The software you are supporting is at best flawed. Management not supportive and behaves as if only out for themselves. They reach out to tax professionals for the seasonal work but do not adequately describe the actual work you will be doing - that you will need a strong IT background and that they expect you to field customer IT related calls. You will be dealing with a bunch of customers who are generally not the type you are accustomed to dealing with - expect to get screamed at by unhappy customers
