Pros
People with strong knowledge, sales, and leadership skills can move up the ladder quickly.
Cons
The Kansas City office of Intertek had recently had major managerial changes and was left with a lack of strong and knowledgeable leadership. The department was selling projects to clients that the clients did not need and did not understand the hazards of the work which resulted in putting staff directly in harms way to complete projects (such as mixing hazardous waste streams without proper sampling or proper PPE). Management was so undertrained that when the front desk associate began yelling at a colleague "I'm going to get you for sexual harassment", the management pulled the "offender" into their office and told them to "make nice" with the other associate by bringing them donuts and offering to help with their tasks. People fresh in the industry may learn the improper way to do complete some tasks.
