Pros

Good people that work in the lab (technicians, engineers) Interesting work - good diversity in projects for the auto industry, good opportunity to work on different things and learn new things as well

Cons

Where to begin.. 1. Management is completely oblivious to hardworking techs/engineers in the lab...they primarily focus on clients/sales, they barely care about the lab itself 2. Overworked and hilariously underpaid (especially as an engineer - no overtime, expected to work 50-60 hours a week easy, and you have to take on multiple responsibilities that aren't even remotely engineering related) 3. No leadership at all. Department Managers have a "hands off" approach with their teams...they delegate away managerial responsibilities such as client questions, scheduling, project management, equipment/quality management, the list goes on... they expect engineers/techs to be above average performers, to go above and beyond, but the managers themselves don't even come close to doing that... 4. As an engineer in the lab, you will have to act as a technician, engineer, project manager, team manager, quality manager, shipping/receiving, sales support, etc...all of those roles meanwhile the actual managers don't have to worry about any of those things..they can just focus on a finance role instead of being a team player 5. Most of the sales staff does a horrenous job quoting projects...you will have to spend a lot of time figuring out what exactly the project is because sales does an awful job of detailing anything if you are young professional, especially an engineer, this is a good place to get some experience for a year or 2, but you can strictly do better!. this is not a long term job at all unless you are happy being overworked and underpaid.

Pros

The work is interesting and varied. There's scope to learn around the subject, if you do so on your own initiative. The 'shop floor' employees are genuinely nice people which leads to a good working atmosphere

Cons

Driven entirely by short term profits. No sales department so business development falls into the hands of technical staff, which is a waste of their expertise and would probably be done better by dedicated sales people. No real training structure for new hires or any attempt to develop present staff. Everything is done 'on the job' which doesn't work well in such a technical area. Very little chance for career advancement. Management are almost all promoted due to their technical knowledge and therefore have little or no managerial competence.

Pros

Great Opportunity but your success is not rewarded. I work very hard for this company to streamline their processes but in the end Upper Management only looks at their bottom line. They don't look at your overall contribution, they just dismiss you to save a dollar. I have seen it on many occasion while working there until it was my turn.

Cons

High Turnover of staff and they have to continuously train people for the job. They are not equal opportunity company and workers are not fairly treated. They profess to be One Intertek Globally but each company operates individually and fight over their P&L. Emphasis is placed on the larger clients but not on medium to small businesses. Many of their hard and experience workers are gone.
