Pros

Some leaders in the business are brilliant. If you have access to them you can learn a lot. If you don't you will be left to dangle in the wind when something goes south. Over reactions to minor issues are rampant.

Cons

You will get written off quickly if you are not signing up long nights and weekends. Exciting projects but no staff to do the work.

Pros

Pay was very competitive and the benefits were above average from a salary perspective. The health benefits were great. This is why I am giving it a two star and not a one star.

Cons

Now, I'm speaking from a Supervisor's perspective and own personal experiences. I had to work every holiday (including Thanksgiving and Christmas) every year I worked at Ingredion (~4 years). When I asked for time off off, I was told I needed to figure out how to cover my position for the plant to run. Meanwhile, all other salary positions did not have to work on these days. After National Starch and Corn Products merged, there were internal struggles with long time National Starch and Corn Products employees. This lead to upper management disagreements that had direct impact on front-line. These disagreements caused management to not take ownership of their departments and delegate blame to front line. So, overall, the management teams on the factory level were very poor. There were double standards, and it was noticeable. If you were liked by upper management in the factory, positions opened up for you that didn't for others. Opportunities to advance were there for you. However, if you were not in upper managements good graces you were not considered for any positions or advancement. This was apparent through all levels of the organization. If you were liked by one of the VPs, or you were hand picked, you had plenty of opportunities. If not, tough, continue to work harder and be happy you have a job. As read in other reviews, the lack of work/life balance is terrible from a Front-Line perspective. While my wife had health problems, I was treated very poorly. I was told I needed to find coverage even though management team members were available. It was very poor taste. I have worked for multiple corporations, the best ones understand these types of issues and manage them accordingly. I wouldn't say this if it wasn't true, Ingredion does not care about you as a person. Ingredion only cares about you if you can show up to work every day, work your behind off for 14+ hours without ever being thanked, and then never getting sick. In my short time in the corporate world, Ingredion is the worst company I have ever worked for. I would not recommend anyone work for them. Good news is with Ingredion's recent acquisitions, the NKC plant will probably close within the next two years of this post.

Pros

Corn products employees good people that are generally a pleasure to work with. Corn products is strong financially, and has a good CEO.

Cons

Good old boy club, if you aren't part of it, it is very hard to get promoted. Pay within company is not equal, same job titles have more responsibilities and pay does not reflect this, the only thing that will move you up or get you higher pay is to be part of the club. Fake jobs are created for management. A job will be created so they can promote one of the club that already has a promotion coming when another higher up is retiring(without posting the job to others internally), but they don't wait for the real position to actually open. Once the retirement happens, the fake job is dissolved, but they have paid for a fake job and high salary for months. They don't follow their promote from within policy. Outsiders are interviewed during the promote from within deadline. HR seems to follow what plant management wants to do instead of following policy.
