Pros

The people are great to work with, and have a lot of experience to share. I only had one person turn me down harshly, but everyone basically knew they were difficult to work with so it wasn't surprising. Cross functional work was encouraged and often succeeded, but only to a point.

Cons

There are a LOT of barriers to execution, which is stressful when you consider that your bonus and career are dependent on your experimental success. The difficult part is getting anything to really go anywhere. All hours are tracked on every specific task, and until recently that included everything even down to weekly lab cleanings. A fair number of higher-ups have left the company recently, and there was a large re-org that is still currently laying people off as of May 2024.

Pros

Benefits. Ingredion will give you opportunities to move departments if you network well enough and are proactive about it. They give opportunities to younger people to manage. Ingredion is a great technically driven company with a good reputation for its technical people. A great place to start your career at and then leave after 4 years for better opportunities.

Cons

They don’t train their managers. Young middle managers stifle progress, training and career of employees. I felt insignificant, undervalued and underpaid. They promote technical people to move to sales without giving them the right training and mentoring to succeed. They care more about company policies than actual employees well-being. Huge HR turnover.
