Pros

Most of the employees are so talented and work very hard to delivery good value adding work. This is a huge pro as this is why BB is able to survive right now as it is truly despite the wrongdoings of the leadership team.

Cons

As the title suggest working at Brilliant Basics has been the biggest disappointment of my career. The reason for this is that the CEO/Founder (AV) and some of the leadership team are just sales people who have no interest in doing actual good work for their clients, this leadership seems to care only about hitting revenue targets. This has a direct result on the employees as with such a focus there is an immense pressure from the top level (AV) all the way down to making sure that this target is hit. This has resulted in a toxic work environment where people who have no place being on this leadership team (no leadership skills) are promoted to it anyway as they are also good salesmen and are able to convince clients to spend their money with BB. This has resulted in an incredibly quiet, demotivated and frustrated office environment (despite the investment into the new office which is really just to show off to clients..) where requests for development, training or anything at all that does not directly lead to increased revenue are ignored. This month (December 2019) alone so many people have left of a mid-senior level (15% of the workforce) because they realise that despite trying their best (and these people are incredibly gifted!) for the the last year there is no willingness of the management team to listen. BB is able to survive right now DESPITE the leadership team. We all know revenue is important but to not even achieve basis employee satisfaction is embarrassing to say the least. Compensation and benefits are not on par with competitors in London so if everything else is rotten as it is people will keep jumping ship.

Pros

Free time, time to think or in many cases rethink your career

Cons

Management sucks and they are nothing but cutthroat rats and will blame you if a client withdraws from them . They will tell you one thing and you will hear another different thing especially when its client work or moving expenses which is a expensive decision. For example they hired people for the rtp area and as soon as people moved here they were trying to make them move again. (They hire in bulk just for the NC tax break until 2020) Managers do not care about your personal preferences just to make their quota. You also just sit there all day and twiddle your thumbs when you are not on a project or do one their pointless showcase projects for bootleg IBM knockoffs. (Why they dont want you working for IBM in contract clause). Lastly if you do get project work make sure its not higher than your pay grade. Managers will sometime stick you to project manager level style work that is beyond skill and comfort level and work where it requires you to be up at India time in the US. (but they wont tell you that until you are officially on a project, or the manager for the client tells you)

Pros

Steady paycheck, good medical insurance.

Cons

An arrogant, tribal. "Indians First" mentality pervades all levels of this company, Americans clearly are hired/tolerated only because of the recent crackdown on H1B visa abuses. I was recently told "We are here because America can not do this work without our expertise". Hogwash... In the eyes of my Infy management team my only purpose was to fill a cube as a billable body, it was a demeaning experience and I left the company after only six months.
