Pros

IKEA has a great company culture with flat hierarchies and uncomplicated communication. The employees really identify with their employer, even more so because the company is actively committed to ethical and environmental standards. Many of the co-workers have worked their way up from the bottom and there are many opportunities to try out something new in a different department. Relationships among employees are very friendly and people from all different levels mingle and exchange information during work-hours and special events. Co-workers are given a lot of freedom to develop their own ideas, although the company expects them to also take responsibility in return.

Cons

Salaries are rather low. Career opportunities might be limited in the UK because the head office is not that big.

Pros

benefits are great, and the salary is decent. They are a very stable company, with good working values. The managment seems to help out when it gets busy. Overall decent job

Cons

I feel that it can be difficult to advance unless you want to put yourself in any random position in the store. for example, if you spend 5 years as a kitchen designer, and thats your specialty, to move up you may have to stock plants or sell bedsheets if a managment position opens in one of those areas, typical retail. Fast paced retail, can be extremely busy at times
