Pros

Lots of respect and collaboration between management and associate workers. Great benefits, even for part time employees (including discounted meals and even sick pay). Flexible management.

Cons

Work can get repetitive, and the store is very crowded on the weekends. Expect some customers who will not be happy that IKEA's setup guides customers to walk through the whole store to get to the exit.

Pros

Descent salary, good benefits, friendly people, creative and fun meetings (learning games, fun discussions, etc), great way to get your feet wet and learn how the business and your specialty department are run.

Cons

Management is a little iffy, not really too much room for advancement unless you want to be a dept manager, which isn't really seen as nothing more than a glorified sales person within the store. Don't get sick or have a disability either, doctors notes are not accepted there as an excuse for absence or illness. Overall Ikea is a good starting point, but do not plan on boosting your career or receiving more than a 2% raise every work year.
