Pros

I had really great coworkers to suffer with (suffering together is easier than suffering alone I guess!)

Cons

Complete disorganized mess. Managers had no idea what to do, the turnover was so high (coworkers and management) because the state of the store was so bad. When I left they didn't even know how to do a proper exit interview - I just walked out. After 10 years you'd think they want to know why you're leaving, but I guess because they know how bad it is they don't want it on record. The company used to be exciting to work for and over the years the benefits kept getting stripped away, the morale only gets lower, and they find more ways to make you do more with less pay.

Pros

Good community and team spirit. Good, manageable workload for the role. Variety, not always doing the same thing day in day out. Flexibility to allow hybrid working. Hiring from within the company, giving a chance to those without experience or qualifications to kick start their careers.

Cons

Salary is poor for a specialised job and not competitive. Not flexible to requests of set shifts to help with work life balance. If you don't have a child your request generally won't get approved. I never got to see my family because I HAD to work on a set shift rotation to meet business needs and there was no genuine concern for my mental well-being, I am lower priority due to no children which is wrong. Takes a while to progress, unless you are bragging about yourself to be seen and heard then you get missed, no matter how much you help, work hard or go above and beyond. You're hard work just becomes an expectation so you get no recognition or development from working hard quietly (terrible for introverts who don't like to shout successes)
