Headed in the Wrong Direction

Pros

The best reason to work at IGT is for the people, especially some management who care for the employees in spite of the mounting challenges of the industry decline and continuous efforts within IGT to cut costs, even if that means cutting talent. The company started in Nevada and felt like a family. You can still find pockets of that culture. You can expect the typical and competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Cons

For approximately 5 years, since the introduction of Patti Hart as the CEO through the time after she sold the company to Gtech, the focus for management has been to do more with less. This would typically be a prudent step in managing a company, but unfortunately, it went too far. The people are treated as a number (salary or headcount), and regardless of their talent, they can be let go in the name of saving money, not accounting for the value they bring to the company or organization. Some cuts are necessary, but 4 years of cuts without evaluating employees beforehand leads to the loss of knowledge and great talent, not to mention a tough work environment with low morale and employees living in fear of their jobs. Additional cons: - New executive management - Recently eliminated management bonuses - Lack of focus on internal employee development (varies by department) - Corporate investment strategy - Compensation philosophy (limiting growth and salary) - Values are spoken, but not lived.

Pros

one pro is the ability to look for a new job while still having a job at IGT

Cons

They took away our raises and our bonuses are dwindling as well. Health insurance is getting worse as well. Remind me why I work for IGT again, other than having a place that pays you every other week. The management is a complete joke. I'm surprised this company still operates. I'd steer clear of this place if you can.
