Pros

- Competent workers are offered suitable opportunities to progress within the business. - In a Part-Time or Casual position, hours can be reasonably flexible around study or extra-curricular commitments. - Store, Department and General Managers who work hard themselves set achievable work efficiency expectations for other employees.

Cons

- Senior Management showed minimal interest in struggling stores. - Employee retention rate in struggling stores is low, impacting individual store culture. - Stand-out employees of struggling stores are not offered positions in successful stores due to lack of Senior Management involvement and/or interest. - Customer retention is near impossible with the big chain supermarkets nearby. Unless the IGA store is in a strategic position or a larger store, the business both per-store and the group take a hit - resulting in difficult budget cuts.
