Pros

It is small and relaxed. So you have time to learn about new products and trends. Also have time to built good relationship with regular customers. Customer service was fun there.

Cons

It’s franchise. So, everything is up to the owner. It is likely to be a small business since owners own only 1-2 IGA stores) and management is usually bad. Metcash was not so interacted and did not help to improve worker’s work conditions.

Pros

Understanding of outside of work obligations like school, clubs, sports. Flexible schedules. Relatively easy job, quick to get around. The cash system is very easy to learn.

Cons

No advancement possibilities. Minimum wage, no raise possible. Usually 4-5 hours shift so 20 hours per week means 4 days at work instead of 2-3. Hard on the body after a while because of repetition movements.
