#1 to #3 in 10 years....

Pros

- excellent work-life balance - friendly environment - above average 401K plan - decent communication betw. departments - culture has a tendency to be family oriented vs. intellectually "top notch" - the comments echoed from various employees are consistent. Just look at the comments on this website.

Cons

- miserly tuition reimbursement plan.. ~ 1 class/semester. - fluctuating bonus plan which has only paid out 1/2 the time. Only 2 of those times has it been at target stated levels or above. - stagnant market share which has resulted in #1 to #3 in 10 years (with #4 coming very close) - 3 CEOs in 9 years with a divisional restructuring with each tenure. All of which has not improved IFFs market share or rankings against its competitors. - sales growth in 10 years has only markedly increased in-line with inflation while the other 3 top competitors out of 4 has had substantial sales growth increases..leading to greater market share. The difference in #3 and #4 now is only 1.8% - There have been a few excellent directors and VPs I have worked with thru the years, and they never make it to the divisional VP or executive board level. There is a tendency for IFF to hire for these levels from the outside. - no transparency in grade levels or pay scale within those grade levels. - no well defined plan for employee development for promotional targets. It's highly political in this regard and more bureaucracy than meritocracy. - upper level management (divisional VPs, executive boards) have a tendency to be out of touch with whats happening at department levels or lower. There is a feeling of a "boys club" at the higher levels, and this clique-type aloof mentality shows in the promotion choices and lower level frustrations...(why offer suggestions to a VP if you feel like it's going to be ignored) - culture has a tendency to be family oriented vs. intellectually "top notch" - higher attrition rate than the industry average

Work you to death

Pros

medical and 401k are decent. paid holidays. pays for all safety equipment.

Cons

Employees are treated like second class citizens. Pay is extremely low compared to the market in the Dallas area. Employees with college degrees are paid the same or sometimes less than others with no college education. Since the pay is low you are always working with inexperienced and unqualified people. They can not keep good people because they leave after a few years to get higher pay at another company. They rarely promote from within and usually go outside the company to fill positions. They exploit illegal immigrants for cheap labor. There is at least one guy there using someone else social security number so he can work there. Extreme PC culture there, you can not even say “Merry Christmas” because they think it might offend someone. Instead you have to say “Happy Holidays”. They pride themselves on being diverse but what it means is that they hire mostly everyone that is not white. Hostile work environment for white people. HR is a joke, people throw the race card with impunity. Work hours are horrendous, at times people can be forced to work 15 hours a day and they will not hire any help. Night shift will work most holidays since their shift starts the day before. If you are lucky to get one, raises are terrible and do not even keep up with inflation. They do not have enough employees so if someone is sick or on vacation then you will be forced to work a different shift then you normally do. You can't use your cell phone at all, even if it is to check the time. They will write you up if you even touch your cell phone. Management micromanages everything. They stalk you, sneak up on you, and follow you around; which is very creepy and borderline stalking. Career wise IFF is just a stepping stone, only come here if you need to gain experience. Otherwise STAY AWAY from this place.

Bullying and intimidating HR culture in India

Pros

Freedom to do anything and every thing

Cons

Past 3 years local HR was highly political and used all dirty means to dominate and retaliate the employees: fabricated anonymous hotline complaints were registered by HR against the employees whom they don’t like or the people who are not abiding , pretty much HR themselves investigated those complaints and delivered the judgement to reprimand the people. selective rumours by HR about targetted employees were floated to humiliate them. Nepotism and favoritism for selected few encouraged. By HR bullying , manipulating some Loyal, Long serving and harmless employees were either destroyed or silenced successfully. high level of corruption Is prevalent in recruitment. Few key positions were filled through heavy kickback by all unethical means in the past 3 years. Today very strong toxic culture is prevailing in India thanks to these misconducts.
