Pros

There is nothing positive about ICON

Cons

Don’t believe the positive reviews. ICON spends all of their time acquiring new companies when theirs is barely surviving. The staff is miserable, management does not care about a single one of the staff. The staff is what got them their great reputation and yet they treat everyone as disposable. They have outsourced hundreds if not thousands of jobs to other countries in an effort to cut costs. They’ll give you promotions and never give you the title or pay with the premise that it will come at the new fiscal year… then never follow through. The pay is horrible anyway. They acquire new companies and fire all of the hard working dedicated employees and dump the work load on 1 remaining person. They have thousands of loyal, dedicated staff and they don’t care. Their greed will drive them into the ground. They create a war zone and make it such a hostile environment that the staff acts out of character to be the next “mean girl” just to keep food on their table.

Pros

The ability to work from home, flexibility.

Cons

They cut everyones pay due to "COVID19" but then boast about winning 1 billion, yes BILLION worth of projects in Q2 2020. Obviously as a CRO we had more work during COVID rather than less, winning >80 vaccine trials. Their stock price is at an all time high. But they "cant afford" to pay their employees, the ones who are on the frontlines making the money for them. They have ruled out making up for these cutbacks in the future by way of bonuses or raises, leaving their employees disgruntled but their shareholders happy. Very unethical, and not the way to retain talent. Note that competitors have NOT taken similar action. With already high workloads and lots of overtime, the pay cuts have contributed to less satisfaction and higher turnover than usual, leaving higher workloads for the remaining staff, making them unhappy, then they leave, and its a vicious circle. If CROs were more realistic about resourcing, this wouldn't happen. They're burning out their staff very quickly.

ICON doesn't provide enough reasons to make you want to stay.

Pros

Flexible hours, PTO, you only need to dress up when a client comes into the office. That's all I can think of for pros. I'm just writing this because I need to write twenty words for pros.

Cons

STOP overloading your high performers and lessening the workload for low performers. STOP the favoritism. STOP promoting people that don't deserve it. Moral is so low. Everyone I know hates this place. The lazy people gets raises and praises where the ones that actually work gets dinged for mistakes because workload is so heavy and we're trying to do 5 things at once because everyone is asking for things RIGHT NOW. And please do something about these PM's who are either absent, rude, or don't know what they're doing. There's only a handful that are actually worth something and treat you with respect. Which is all some us want...just respect. A 'thank you' every once in a while would be nice. Some employees feel like they have ZERO value here. ZERO raises and ZERO praises. ZERO value. Why stay?
