Pros

Wonderful co-workers. Work from home

Cons

In 2015 the benefit package was changed. Medical coverage is not as good and people lost time off when they switched to PTO time. No room for advancement. Lack of support from upper management. Understaffed.

Pros

Company culture that values it's workforce as individuals, with a focus on work-life balance. The best benefits of any CRO. It seems as though the company has started focusing energy on employee retention and career growth. The company really tries to keep CRAs regional.

Cons

IT systems and work processes can be tedious and inefficient. There are significant resourcing shortages and delays on projects, but it's definitely project-specific. Management can be a mixed bag. I think this in part has to do with the system they have for career growth. Just because an individual has been with the company a long time, doesn't mean they should be a manager. It takes a unique personality to manage well. It's great that the company promotes from within, but the process would benefit from being less corporate and more talent-based.

Lost their way

Pros

Time off benefit was great. The people are wonderful to work with, always willing and able to assist, some of the best in the industry.

Cons

ICON has lost its way. I was a long time employee, and saw ICON grow from a place where opportunity was everywhere, employee growth was expected, and pay was good. Then everything changed. Understaffed to protect/increase profitability, nearly no growth from within, too much hiring from outside, and NO care for life/work balance. Working hard is good, but ICON takes advantage of that philosophy every day, pushing more work on already overstretched staff.
