Pros

IBM has impressed me with their commitment to diversity. The company has so many interesting projects in development and combine viewpoints from international employees as well as those within the US. The resources available on site are quite sufficient for research and personal development and the location of the site is ideal for anyone interested in live music, making for a good work/life balance opportunity.

Cons

Apparently there are some divisions that do work longer hours, but I have not experienced this personally. I find that those who work longer weeks are a bit too committed to their work. I have found that the managers are quite flexible when it comes to their employees' schedules.

Pros

#Competency of the senior management #Good balance between private and professional life #Strong work mobility between different IBM locations #Still a great name on a resume

Cons

#No employee development vision #Only one 3days sessions in 2 years (fresh grad employee) #Short term/PTI oriented decisions, even if the best long term choice is evident #Very poor salary plan in the first years, even with a top performance grade #Entry salary is only determined by grad schools studies. Personal and previous experiences are not valued

Pros

Some of the best reasons to work for IBM are: IBM cares very much about work-life balance and allows for very flexible working hours; IBM provides plenty of learning opportunities through projects across different organizations; IBM has the resource to carry out pioneering projects that most of the smaller companies cannot afford to; IBM's scale makes the job relatively stable in the current market place.

Cons

Some major downsides of working at IBM include: it is such a large organization that it is very difficult and may take a long time to advance in the career path; breaking barriers between organizations can be difficult and often result in low efficiency; there are too many old people that are too used to the established way of doing business
