Pros

They gave me an oppertunity early in my career when i was really new in the IT world. I had a friend that worked there and they gave me a chance to learn my craft with out any real experince. They also paid me more than i was work at the time, but i never got a raise after my first offer save wage for 4 years with no review.

Cons

They don't have benefits for everyone that works there. No raise after 4 years worth of work and i had mastered my role by then and was deserving of at least a pat on the back but i got nothing and dumb manager that didn't listen to anything or anyone.

Pros

The brand name recognition is pretty much the only reason I can think of. IBM Global Services is a completely different beast from the innovative company that IBM is supposed to be.

Cons

Once you get in it's unlikely your pay rate or day-to-day work will change. Dealing with the massive amounts of bureaucracy and broken systems is bound to get you too tired to do any real work. And since this is the consulting branch of IBM you'll have to deal with the customer's bureaucracy as well.

Pros

IBM had a very relaxed environment. Although I was a co-oping for them while finishing my masters degree, the atmosphere was very laid back.

Cons

If you work for IBM for a long time and try to move to another industry, you're in for a little culture shock, most places aren't that laid back compared to IBM. I know several people who left IBM to work for one of the big finance companies and they went back to IBM to beg for their job back because they couldn't handle the workload and amount of off-hour commitments. Try to keep yourself up to date on technologies and hardware that's going on outside of IBM to avoid becoming a dinosaur.
