      Flexibility, work life balance without competitive paid

      Pros

      Flexibility and the work environment is very professional. Everyone is willing to help one another and there are abundance or resource when needed from either peer or co-worker. It has a large supporting network.

      Cons

      The pay is not as competitive and advancement within the company is very minimal. More over, there are many layers of redundancy in the company that can be eliminated. Sometime it feels like too many management personnel running around asking for the same status. It's like going in circle asking each other for the same status. Bottom line, too many people asking for status and not enough people working on the actual problem.

      Pros

      Current postion offers a good deal of flexibility and independence. Benefits, particulary 401K matching are solid relative to many other companies. Particularly for some one in my age group.

      Cons

      Raises have been paltry for past several years. If we had a solid previous year, point to a bad current year as cause, if good current year, point to bad previous year as cause. Should be more upfront about the intended course for the company, even if that includes. Dont think the way these recent rounds of job cuts has been handled properly and are hurting morale. Claiming this is just BAU type resizing/shuffling is silly.

      Pros

      I has mostly good coworkers but I am not impressed with upper management.

      Cons

      IBM has offshored my positions 3 separate times and now laid off. The benefits are shrinking every year. More people seem more cut throat that in the past because of the way reviews are given so it is harder to get a sense of a good team atmosphere. It is a joke how they do appraisals since they make us write personal business commitments as our goals and we could accomplish all the goals we set forth. But these PBCs are not used in the evaluation. 1st line managers haggle with other 1st line managers over who "ranks" higher so you better hope your manager is close to you and they are better at debating with other managers.
