Pros

Reasonable salary and expectations (depending on location) solid culture of pleasing the customer and freedom of employees to express themselves and be real people instead of corporate drones in some other heavily branded hotels.

Cons

Extremely location specific, some places are prone to terrible salaries and nepotism. Find a location with an FOM that you can trust to back you and you've found an excellent place to work... but it can be a complete nightmare if you're working for someone who doesn't care about the employees

Pros

Great experience, training and opportunity for growth. Rewarded based on your accomplishments. Never boring and you get to meet people from all over the world.

Cons

Long hours. Sometimes very long. Entry level pay makes it sometimes hard to find and retain good staff. Ownership of various hotels can make for a very different experience.
