Pros

Good entry level hotel experience. Forces you to have many face to face interactions with guests. Helps you become more professional

Cons

Lack of qualified upper management. I worked the front desk for a year, moved to the supervisor, knew the ins and outs of the entire hotel and its frequent guests. When the FOM position opened, they went with outside hire who came in and micromanaged terribly. And I was told to keep my mouth shut. Any upper management employee who has worked at previous hotels and comes into a new environment should listen to what employees of over 2 years have to say. Especially with high turnover rates at the front desk. You cant take Hilton, Four Season hotel management styles and think they will integrate smoothly at Holiday Inn. It just wont happen. Different employees. Different guests.
