Pros

HSBC offers good pay and great benefits. Some positions offer telecommute/work-form-home ability. Good place for those seeking international mobility. This bank has a solid international reputation.

Cons

Political environment with aggravating chain of command issues. Staff reductions are placing a bigger burden on the remaining work force. HSBC is reducing US operations to increase emerging market investment.

Pros

The culture was relatively relaxed with managers not getting on everyone's case all the time. The teams were small so everyone got a chance to say something.

Cons

Not a lot of work was given to a new joiner, we were just made to sit around and do nothing much during our time. It would have been several months before significant work was given and even then it wasn't very interesting.

Pros

World-renowned. Great reputation, strong player in many countries.

Cons

Depressing work environment. Robot-like lower level employees.
